The Bucks County Illustrators Society is proud to present the extraordinary historical aviation illustrator Gil Cohen on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:30 PM, who will speak on his career and his painting techniques. The event will be held in Paxson Hall at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 84 E. Oakland Avenue, Doylestown. Mr. Cohen blended his youthful fascination in aviation with his deep interest in painting and history to produce a stunning series of paintings depicting scenes of aviation activities during World War II. His emphasis in this series was not only to depict a specific moment in history, as well as actual aircraft, but most importantly, the human element.
Mr. Cohen is a four time winner of “The Award of Distinction” in American Society of Aviation Artists juried exhibitions, as well as the ASAA Service Award and the Boeing Spirit of Flight Award. He is also the recipient of the British Guild of Aviation Artists “Best of Show” by an American artist and the “Best of the Best” award sponsored by Aviation Week & Space Technology Magazine. For several years he served on the Board of Directors of the New York based Society of Illustrators, chairing the Government Services Program which oversaw the Air Force Art Program.
