The BCIS 2013 Member Show, “The Art of Illustration”
The art on this postcard is by Becca Haushalter Klein, an exceptional illustrator in our area, a huge Disney fan (perhaps you could tell) with a Belle (of Beauty and the Beast) personality.
The illustrators of BCIS have had the good fortune to be invited to create a Member Show, to be hung in the large gallery of the Cultural Center at the Pearl S. Buck estate in Perkasie, PA. Becca’s illustrations just explode with mood and magic, and we were very glad she gave the ok for us to use her illustration for our card.
There will be a variety of other lively and imaginative illustrators exhibiting in the show, including
James Bennett, Dot Bunn, Amanda Condict, Joe DeVito, Heather Davulcu, Ponder Goembel, Pamela Hamilton, Rich Harrington, Monika Hinterwaldner, Deb Hoeffner, Denise Callanan-Kline, Kim Kurki, Linda LaRose, Christina Maniet, Kathryn Maxwell, Steve Ottey, Rebecca Rhodin, Dave Song, Joe Tacynec, Eric Wight, Glenn Zimmer and Pat Achilles.
Several of our members will give presentations during the three days of the exhibit, and all take place in the Cultural Center exhibit gallery:
Painter and illustrator Deb Hoeffner will give a presentation on Wednesday at 2:30 pm, “Secrets of a Working Illustrator,”explaining her illustration process and her collaboration with a self-publishing author in the making of the book “Lucky.”
Children’s book illustrator Ponder Goembel will give a drawing demonstration on Thursday at 1 pm, geared for elementary school children, and talk about the importance of illustrating books, with a slideshow and a Q&A period.
Illustrator Glenn Zimmer will present “Baseball and Bucketfillers,” a talk and slideshow about his illustrations for children’s books, on Friday at 3 pm.
If you are in the area of beautiful Bucks County, PA, from June 26 to 28, we invite you to visit our show – we’d be especially pleased if you join us Friday June 28th, when we’ll have an open wine and cheese reception from 7-9 pm. For directions to the Pearl S. Buck estate go here.
