Illustrator Talks at the BCIS Members Show
We are getting closer to our first Members Show, which officially starts Wednesday June 26 and closes with a wine and cheese reception on Friday evening June 28.
Our exhibit will be in the Cultural Center on the beautiful grounds of the Pearl S. Buck estate, at 520 Dublin Road, Perkasie, PA 18944.
Three of our member illustrators will give talks and presentations during the run of the show, all of them informative and entertaining to artists, authors, children and art-lovers. Each talk takes place in the exhibit gallery in the Cultural Center, a beautifully renovated barn on the garden-filled estate.
On Wednesday June 26 at 2:30 pm, painter and illustrator Deb Hoeffner will give a presentation called “Secrets of a Working Illustrator.” Through a slideshow Deb will explain her illustration process and her collaboration with a self-publishing author in the making of the book “Lucky, a Tale of a Tree.”
On Thursday June 27 at 1 pm children’s book illustrator Ponder Goembel will give a drawing demonstration , geared for elementary school children, and talk about the importance of illustrating books, with a slideshow and a Q&A period.
On Friday June 28 at 3 pm, illustrator Glenn Zimmer will present “Baseball and Bucketfillers,” a talk and slideshow about his techniques and his illustrations for children’s books, many of which are sports-related.
For a map and directions to the Pearl S. Buck estate please see the foundation’s website here. To enter the estate on these 3 days there is a $5 admission fee, which also entitles the visitors to garden and house tours. See the Pearl S. Buck website for details.
