BCiS “Flights of Fantasy” Reception and Book Signing
The Bucks County Illustrators Society will host a reception and book signing that is free and open to the public on Sunday October 15, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Bucks County Conference and Visitors Bureau, 3207 Street Road in Bensalem, PA. BCIS has an ongoing exhibit through October 28 at the Bureau, entitled “Flights of Fantasy,” which includes illustrations from 18 professional illustrators in the Bucks County area. The Visitors Bureau is open seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The Bucks County Illustrators Society was formed in 2009 and promotes the art and business of illustration and gives local illustrators the opportunity to connect with other professionals in the industry.
Included in the exhibit will be artwork by James Bennett, Monika Hinterwaldner, Deb Hoeffner, Denise Callanan-Kline and Pat Achilles of Doylestown; Ponder Goembel of Riegelsville, Becca Klein of Warrigton, Joe Kulka of Quakertown, Glenn Zimmer and Dan Fione of North Wales, Piya Wannachaiwong and Chistina Wannachaiwong of Langhorne, Rich Harrington of Newtown, Pam Hamilton of Chalfont, Marie Thresher of Philadelphia, Kim Kurki of Penns Park, Mark Schaeffer of Ambler and Ryan Onorato of Runnymede, NJ. The subjects of the artwork range from dragons and animals to celebrities, children’s book art to historical illustrations, graphic novels to decorative design. The styles in the exhibit vary from traditional media such as oil and watercolor to digital illustration, to combinations of both.
Many of the artists have books, cards and prints of their illustrations for sale in the Gift Shop at the Visitors Center through December. The book Fantasy Tales, a showcase publication of BCIS artists featuring illustrations of stories of fantasy, will also be available in the gift shop.
